J Crew Fall 2010 collection

I am a little biased, since I work at J Crew, but I am always surprised at their collection. It is wonderfully fashion forward and even with my discount I still can't afford the collection pieces. I lust after them every season!

My favorite thing from this look is the sweatpant shorts! I am totally going to work that into my wardrobe this fall. I also love all of the different textures and tonalities of black. If you're one of those people who wear all black, you should do it this way!

The only thing that I can think of when I see this look is "At least I didn't skin a collie for my backpack." (I hope you got my Clueless reference.) I also love the jacket, and the play of proportions, the short skirt with the blousy jacket. I am really loving the tan colors that are becoming more prevalent for fall. They are rich and warm and inviting.

Anyone who think J Crew is preppy needs to look at this look. Nothing more to be said.

I am obsessed with this hat! I love the jacket and I'm sure you all know how much I want shorts like that. I am all prepared for the heat of the summer, but this collection is making me miss 40 degree weather!

Louis Vuitton Fall 2010

I am very attracted to this collection for many reasons, but mostly because it is so 50's New Look! I love the tiny waists and the big, pleated skirts. I especially love the leather skirt because it gives such great texture and the weight of it is so unexpected for the shape. I also love the color palette, I think muted tones are going to be big for fall. I love all of the textures in the fabrics and the mix of those fabrics in the garments. And I love how boobs are a big focus, they couldn't show them off then, but we sure can now!

Alexander McQueen Fall 2010

Sorry I'm so lame and just getting to this now....

I have two words to say about this collection...ABSOLUTELY BREATHTAKING. And I'm not just saying that because it is the last and final collection from Alexander McQueen. I have always been a fan of his work, but lately it's been blowing me away, and this collection is no different.

I love the color palette, the gold details, the pleating, brocade, spiked headdresses, chiffon, draping, and basically everything else. I love how ornate it is, and romantic, all I want to do is walk through huge gardens and give gorgeous men meaningful glances.

This collection might not be as striking as his last collection (the reptilian one), but it is definitely not insignificant. It may be more demure, but it is not quiet. It is dramatic, well crafted and truly speaks to McQueen as a designer.

I am so sad that this is the last we will ever see of his work, but this post is not melancholy. It is a celebration of his genius.

My necklaces

I've been meaning to post pictures of the necklaces I've been making for the past few months or so. I really like using fabric and chain together, the mix of hard and soft is appealing to me.

I've been too busy at school and work and stuff to make more, but I've had some good feedback lately so I'll probably work on them soon. I'll post more pictures of the new ones soon.

Thanks for everyone's support too! It's always nice to hear positive feedback about the things I make!

I've wanted some high waisted paper bag leather shorts for a while now, and every time I tell someone that they look at me like I'm crazy. And then I found this picture....

So look haters, look how cute these are. However, my hunt for the perfect high waisted paper bag leather shorts continues.....

Nina Ricci Fall 2010

I have really been into Nina Ricci lately, and this season definitely did not disappoint....

I just like this look. The hair and shape of the sweater, it reminds me of Ann Margaret in Bye Bye Birdie. It's a very sweet look, and really playful because of the flower skirt. I am really drawn to the colors, and really, what girl doesn't want a skirt made entirely out of flowers.

I love the ruffles and the elegance of this dress. I love grey, and the sheen on the fabric gives it great dimension. The sleeves are my favorite part, and especially since shoulders are being played up a lot now, this is a great way to interpret it in a flirty, feminine way. I would wear this dress in an instant!

Cropped pants are cropping up everywhere! Ok, excuse my corniness. But I really love the shape of the pants, I wish I could pull off the pleated cropped pants, but alas, I am too short for it. I also just really love the shirt, it's sexy and sheer but not overt at all. Just very feminine and a bit cheeky, which I am all about. A little flirtation never hurt anyone.

I like this look, it's not my favorite from the bunch, but I really like the layering at the hemline of the skirt. And I like the sheer fabric over the polka dots, its gives them a gauzy quality that is really pleasing. I like that the skirt looks like she just hiked it up and gave everyone a wink and walked off.

All I can say about this look is, I want a flower belt. Now.

Balenciaga Fall 2010

Here are some of my favorite looks from the Balenciaga Fall 2010 collection...

I always love the shapes and proportions that Balenciaga is known for. This jacket is a great example of that, I love the rounded shoulders and the cut-outs. It reminds me of armor, but really chic armor. I love the seaming in the jacket and I think it is really youthful and pretty and I would be so happy to have it!

I love the graphic print on this dress, especially paired with the nude fabric. I am really into nude colors right now, so I had to pick this look. I love all the different layers and dimensions of this dress, it gives it an interesting depth, but not bulky. And I love how delicate the look is, but is actually made of leather. The sleeves are perforated to have that sheer, floaty effect, and I love that.

The next two looks are similar, but I love them both! I love the colors especially. And I belt everything, so I would totally wear the sweaters. I am really drawn the the fluted shape the sweaters make under the belt with the cropped pants. It is really 50's to me, and I'm sure you've guessed that I love the 50's. I also really like the linear designs in the sweaters in the fluid shapes they make on the body. And the red pants are just spectacular, totally need them in my wardrobe.

And the shoes in this collection are fantastic. I might sell my soul for a pair.

Dior Fall 2010

John Galliano's inspiration for the Dior Fall 2010 collection was equestrian, and it wasn't hard to tell. But I was more attracted to the less theatrical pieces in the collection...

I think this jacket is beautiful beyond words. The open lapels and big bow in the front are so feminine and pretty. And I am a sucker for plaid, so I love it.

Again, with the plaid, but I am drawn to the pants in this look. I like the color and the length a lot. I think they look great with the sweater boots, but would look equally good with tougher booties and a silky top. I like that this look can be broken up into several different outfits and still retain a sense of the equestrian influence.

It's no secret that I love romantic, floaty clothes, so obviously I love this dress. The draping is beautiful and the color looks amazing on Chanel Iman's skin tone. There is no doubt that this is a beautiful dress.

I like the overt sexiness of this dress. It looks like lingerie but in a sultry way. I love the way chiffon feels on the skin, so I'm sure this dress is amazing to wear. The embellishment is pretty and I love the shape of the bodice, it is very vintage and flattering on a lot of body shapes.

I love this dress so much. I love the color and the cheeky-ness of the sheer skirt, especially that you can see the thigh high boots underneath. The embellishment is beautiful and I absolutely love the vest on top. It is romantic and lovely and I just want to dance around in it and flirt with a guy with slicked back hair.

Alexa Chung for Madewell

I think Alexa Chung is hilarious and oh so cute, so when I heard about her collaboration with Madewell I got really excited. Here are some pictures from the line which launches Fall 2010.

Temperley London Fall 2010

I LOVE Temperley London.

I love the draping of the skirt. I love the structure of the jacket. I love the monochromatic. I love the hat. I love the gold.

I love the length of the pants. I love the neckline. I love the sleeves. I love the belt. I love the bag.

I love the color of the shirt. I love the proportions. I love the drape of the pants. I love the flow of the look. I love the hat.

I love the play on the Union Jack. I love the cape. I love the gloves. I love slight gray.

I LOVE Temperley London.

Proenza Schouler Fall 2010

Ok, so the only thing I could think of about the Proenza Schouler Fall 2010 collection was Clueless 2010. And I LOVE it.

I like this look because it is super sexy, the sheer neckline to the waistline, it's kind of sexy secretary. And the pleating makes it move beautifully, which is good because then it will entrance everyone you walk by.

But, I'm sorry. If this is not Cluless 2.0 I don't know what is. If only for the exposed midriff. But also, the blazer, totally Clueless. The pleated mini skirt? Come on.

And if this doesn't scream Cher, I don't know what would. She skinned a collie for her backpack in high school, but now that she is 15 years older she has graduated to a whole collie coat! And the skirt is so chic, I love navy and black together, and the thick stripes are lovely.

The babydoll dress was one of the most popular silhouettes in the 90's, and it's back! I love how Proenza Schouler modernized this collection by making it dark and Gothic, it totally contrasts the sweetness of this dress in particular and it feels more grown up, but that could be entirely because I was a kid in the 90's and have a different taste level now. And if I were going to a 90's revival party, this would be my top choice of outfits.

Nanette Lepore Fall 2010

Here are my favorite looks from Nanette Lepore's Fall 2010 collection...

I don't think I really need to explain why I like this look...it is sparkly. And that's really all I need to say. But of course, I will say more. I love the color combination, and it makes me wish I were a blonde. I love the length of the coat, and the textures and the puff sleeves on the coat. And I love the dark grey tights! Those are on my to-get list for the fall, and I encourage others to follow my lead.

This dress is totally sexy-bagpiper chic. I love that it looks like she just threw on a scarf and belted it and ran out of the house. I'd be lying if I said I wasn't thinking about trying to get away with doing just that....

This look is similar to the first one, but I love it all the same. The colors, the sparkles, the fact that it is totally wearable and shows that sparkles can be worn in day time and be casual. Take note ladies, and pull out your sequins!

I love love love this coat! I love the overextended lapels, I love the slouchy sleeves, I love the color, I love the texture, I love it all and I want it!

Jeremy Scott Fall 2010

Jeremy Scott is such a silly man, and I love his work. His Fall 2010 collection is no exception.

There isn't really much to say about this except...brilliant.

I have a feeling a lot of girls are going to be writing messages on their sweaters and walking around with their arms spread apart. Get ready to be awkwardly side stepped on the street.

I have recently become a big fan of gold and black together, and I love this jacket. I can imagine it with skinny dark dark denim jeans and a floaty silk, low cut top. And the boots are just great- with tights and mini leather shorts and a thin black boatneck tee shirt. Either outfit I would be so stoked on wearing.

I have a love of stained glass windows, I blame my mother, who studied Gothic cathedrals in France, so thanks mum. This dress is a great representation of those windows, it is so colorful yet edgy and perfect for a girl who can kick ass and look cute doing it.
